TRASH COLLECTION AND RECYCLING INFORMATION
(Allied Waste)
Trash
pick up days are Monday and Thursday.
Large trash is Thursday.
Recycling is picked up second & fourth Monday
of each month.
Call 215-295-8771 for missed pickups or other problems
- this number is our local supervisor's (Bob Pletscher) number. He knows the
Borough and supervises the trucks that come here. (The Borough Office has a
cell phone number for Bob for serious problems.)
Our contract states a limit of 6 receptacles per household, although they will
usually take everything if there is room in the truck.
The weight limit for any item in regular trash is 50 pounds.
Large Trash
- There usually isn't a need to call ahead for large trash pickups. They should
be able to fit most things in the truck and they will call for a pickup truck to
get larger items. They will not pick up any automotive parts or construction
trash. Carpet and branches must be cut to 3 or 4 foot lengths.
Recycling is the second and fourth MONDAY of each month. Be
aware that on months with five Mondays you will go three weeks between pickups
for one of the cycles. We recycle #1 and #2 plastics, metal cans, clear and
colored glass, newspapers, magazines, telephone books and junk mail.
White
goods (water heaters, washers, dryers, stoves, dishwashers) are picked up on
Thursday, no extra charge.
Call
215-723-0400 for CFC items only
- this is the main office number and they dispatch an outside contractor to pick
up CFC (Chlorofluorocarbons) items.
CFC items
include refrigerators, air-conditioners, freezers and dehumidifiers. These are
picked up by appointment only. Usually they are picked up on Thursdays. It is
best to call by Monday to get on the Thursday list. If there is a difficulty
with the outside contractor that Allied Waste is using, the Borough Office can
call Bob who then has the item picked up with Allied's pickup truck.
