Additional Trash collection information
Household Hazardous Waste
Each year Montgomery County schedules drop off sites throughout the county for household hazardous waste items. The list is available at the Waste System Authority of Eastern Montgomery County (WSAEMC) website www.wsaemc.org. (SEE FLYER) You may also call 610-278-3618 for information. Montgomery County cooperates with surrounding counties for drop off sites. There may be a closer location to the Borough (i.e. Bucks County or Philadelphia) than the Montgomery County sites.
All non-metal bulk items such as mattresses, chairs, sofas, televisions and non-appliance metal items such as bicycles will be collected on Thursday, except during a holiday week. Only one large or two small bulk items will be collected per pick-up. Other bulk items include push lawn mowers (fluids must be drained), grills (must be broken down), toilets, sinks, swing sets (cut into 4 ft sections), metal bed frames and metal poles (cut into 3-4 ft. pieces), humidifier, trash compactors, microwaves (under 50lbs.), furniture, cabinets, shutters, lightweight treadmills, snow blowers (fluids drained), glass table tops (taped and wrapped), wooden fencing (cut in 4 ft. sections). NO riding mowers or propane tanks.
Residents will be required to pay a fee for the collection of all appliances known as “white goods” such as stoves, refrigerators, washers, dryers, riding lawn mowers, hot water heaters, window air conditioners, or any other large metal item. Upon receipt of the fifty dollar ($50.00) fee, a sticker will be issued to the resident. The sticker should be placed on the item for collection at the curb on the third Monday of each month. Residents may obtain the stickers in person or by mailing a request with payment to the Borough Office. The request should include a description of the item.
There will be no pick-up on: Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
As we are now joined with Lower Moreland on the trash contract, collection regulations must be strictly enforced. Violators may be subject to fines and penalties.
